Body of a young boy is found at Cedar Creek Falls after he drowned

The body of a young boy has been found at a popular watering hole hours after he failed to surface while swimming with his friend.

The boy, believed to be aged 10 to 12, was frolicking in the water around Cedar Creek Falls, on the Gold Coast, Queensland, when he disappeared underwater on Thursday afternoon.

Initial investigations suggest he was swimming with a friend when they both got into trouble, but only one of the boys was able to swim to the side.

Police divers entered the water at around 9pm and found the body shortly after.
