Jose Mourinho reveals his target date for return to management duties as The Special One seeks next role after parting ways with Roma in January

Jose Mourinho has revealed when he wants to return to the dugout as a manager, after parting ways with Roma earlier this year.

The Special One is currently out of work after mutually moving away from the Serie A club, after he was appointed to the role in May 2021.

He has a long list of previous roles dating back to the year 2000, including experience in the Premier League with Chelsea, Man United and Spurs, LaLiga with Real Madrid, and Serie A with Inter Milan and Roma.

Mourinho attended Moto GP’s Portuguese Grand Prix, and waved the chequered flag for Jorge Martin, who celebrated his win with Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘SIU’ move.

At the event, reporters asked him about the prospect of returning to manage in his homeland, following spells with Benfica and Porto, winning the UEFA Cup and Champions League with the latter.

According to Goal, Mourinho said he had ‘zero news’, adding: ‘I don’t have a club, I’m free.

‘But I want to work, in the summer I want to work.’

He added: ‘Never say no, especially in football. My life is football. I can train anywhere and I have no problems.’

The summer transfer window will leave several jobs vacant as managers at Barcelona and Liverpool leave their jobs, and other teams are set to lose their bosses as they move on to fill those gaps.

Other sides may chose to change up their managerial operations following underwhelming seasons.

Mourinho’s potential options include a lucrative stint in Saudi Arabia, a return to the Premier League, or a foray into international management.

He has previously said he will ‘definitely’ work in Saudi Arabia and once said that he wants to ‘help develop soccer in the US’.

Mourinho has also expressed his desire to manage the Portuguese national team and still has a family home in London, ideally placed if a Premier League club come calling.

Earlier this month, Mourinho revealed he was eager to return to the dugout, but admitted ‘I don’t want to make the wrong decision.’
