Zinedine Zidane hails 'spectacular' Jude Bellingham after using his locker for Real Madrid Legends' clash against Porto Legends - adding that the Spanish giants are 'lucky to have him'


Zinedine Zidane spoke in glowing terms of Jude Bellingham as he used the England star’s locker ahead of Read Madrid Legends’ game against Porto Legends. 

The 1998 Ballon d’Or winner rolled back the years with an impressive display in the annual charity match that took place at the Bernabeu last weekend. 

He was joined by the likes of Raul, Roberto Carlos and Luis Figo and Steve McManaman in Madrid’s star-studded roster that ended up losing 1-0 to their Portuguese guests. 

The World Cup winner lauded Bellingham’s impact this season and spoke of his desire to see the 20-year-old lead Los Blancos to trophies in the future.

‘From five to five, we are not the same age but the same number,’ Zidane said ahead of the game. 

‘He is spectacular, we are lucky to have him at Real Madrid, he is very good and I hope he brings us many trophies.’

Bellingham leads both the goal scoring and assist rankings for the LaLiga giants, who sit eight points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table. 

He is set to play some part in England’s friendly against Belgium on Tuesday before travelling back to his club  where he will return to action following a two-game suspension. 

Meanwhile, last weekend Zidane showed he hasn’t lost his superb close control and tricks which had some supporters off their seats during his playing career. He caught the fans’ attention with some silky moves throughout the match.

During his time at Real he scored 49 goals in 230 appearances, winning the Champions League in 2002 and the LaLiga title a year later.

After an illustrious playing career, his managerial career has been successful since he took the reins at the Bernabeu in 2016.

Across two stints at Real, he won three Champions Leagues and two LaLiga titles before departing in 2021.

Zidane still remains a sought-after talent – with Man United reportedly interested in his services.
