                                              Ben Breakwell Biography

Who is Ben Breakwell ?

A school teacher who was convicted of a number of crimes, including s*xual activity with two underage girls, has been jailed for a total of 17 years.

Cambridge graduate Ben Breakwell, 40, groomed two girls, aged 13 and 14, and staged a series of sordid encounters at his home while he was working at a secondary school in London.

Isleworth Crown Court heard how the professional singer abused his position as a music teacher to engage young students in s* xual activity.

Ben Breakwell Arrested and Charges

Breakwell was arrested in November 2017.

Today, he was jailed for 17 years after being convicted of 32 crimes.

Breakwell was charged last year with a catalog of crimes stemming from his time as a teacher at the school between 2014 and 2017.

The perverted teacher denied that he had any s*xual relationship between him and the girls.

He called the claims “fantasy” and could have been taken from Fifty Shades of Gray.

Breakwell, who now lives in Monkgate, York, was convicted of 22 counts of s*xual activity with a child, three counts of provoking or inciting a child to engage in s*xual activity, four counts of s*xual activity with a child by one person in a position of trust, one count of s*xual assault and two charges of taking indecent photographs of a child.

The crimes included kissing, intimate fondling, and oral s*x.

Victims

Breakwell committed the crimes against two teenagers and also targeted a third girl during the lessons.

She was upset and then told her friends and then her mother that she confronted Breakwell.

Later, the victim told police that she felt guilty for what had happened, as she had bought him a box of candy as a thank you gift and thought this might have encouraged him, the court was told.

Friends of one of the victims approached a colleague of Breakwell’s in September 2017 and told him about her suspicions.

The school immediately suspended it, the police were alerted, and an investigation was launched, led by specialist officers from the West Area Command Unit.

A search of his computer uncovered indecent images of a fourth victim living abroad.

Kate Shilton, CPS, said: “These victims have shown immense strength and resilience in speaking out in these court proceedings. Ben Breakwell was a teacher who should have protected them, but instead he raped them.

“He had illegal s*x with two of these schoolgirls. She convinced these victims who were only 13 and 14 at the time, that they were together, they were special to him, and they were in love with each other. In fact, he was manipulative and used his position of trust to groom and exploit these young women.

Breakwell has never claimed responsibility for his actions

“Breakwell has never claimed responsibility for his actions and throughout the trial he denied that he had engaged in s*xual activity with the victims. This was despite the telephone evidence and corroborating testimony that the prosecution was able to present, which detailed similar accounts from victims who did not know each other.

“I hope these convictions give these victims a sense of closure and encourage other victims of abuse to come forward and report their assailants to the police knowing that they will be taken seriously. CPS will always aim to take these cases to court when there is evidence to do so. ”

Police Detective Ben Lawrence-Smith added

Police Detective Ben Lawrence-Smith added: “My thoughts are with the young women who were betrayed by Breakwell. They have all been incredibly brave and it is their courage in speaking that has brought him to justice.

“Breakwell cheated on and abused these girls and then tried to evade any responsibility for his actions. They were manipulated to the point that some felt that it was they who were doing wrong. The fact that Breakwell was a teacher only compounds this gross betrayal of trust.

“It is clear that Breakwell was a s*xual predator who carefully manipulated these young women to exploit them. His victims were very young and he made them believe they were in love with him, knowing that if they cared about him they were less likely to alert anyone to his crimes.

“It can be difficult for victims of s*x crimes, especially when their abusers are people in positions of power and trust, to speak up. He would ask that if he suspects that someone is at risk of similar manipulation and abuse, he report it to someone, be it a parent, caregiver, or someone in authority.

“Due to the predatory nature of Breakwell’s crimes, there may be more victims who have yet to come forward. If you or someone you know has been affected by the Breakwell crime, or has been the victim of a s*x crime, go to the police. There will be specially trained officers to listen and support all complaints and work to bring offenders to justice. ”
