A woman was left mortified and burst into tears after realising she had made a huge mistake when ordering a cocktail during her stay at a five-star hotel.
Cocktails are notoriously more expensive than other refreshments, but Lynsey could not believe her eyes when she was given a bill for almost £2,000 for a single drink. Her husband was so furious that he stormed out of the bar.
Lynsey, who goes by @lynsey_26 on TikTok, said she had “no idea” the cocktail she had ordered was worth a staggering £1,890, reports the Mirror.

“I showed my husband the receipt and he was furious at me,” she explained. Lynsey said she had been caught out by the pricing on the menu as it was set out as ’18 90′. The mum and self-proclaimed “workaholic” said she had mistaken that for £18.90.
At the time, Lynsey was oblivious that the drink contained Cristal Champagne, a sprinkled gold leaf, and 30-year-old whisky. The cocktail lover said: “It was my mistake but it was genuine. I started to panic as this was a five star hotel.”
Lynsey, who confessed to not even enjoying the drink during a stay in London, said she had to approach the bar worker and explain: “I had no idea it was £1,890.”

Speaking about how the situation was dealt with, the woman added: “The manager was so discreet and so wonderful. He completely played it down. He was like ‘look it’s fine, don’t worry about it, we will sort this out’.” Lynsey said her nerves were “wrecked” as this was her first of five nights at the luxury hotel. If they ask me to avoid the bar I am going to have a heart attack. So I avoided the bar like the plague.”
But later in her visit she decided to go back into the bar and saw the manager who hugged her and said: “This is the girl who made us open the Cristal and we had to drink the Cristal.” The staff member joked they had sacked the bar tender and Lynsey burst into tears.
But it was luckily just a joke as the manager explained this had happened before and they had just given the bar tender extra training to make sure future punters are aware of the cost of the drink before ordering.
Lynsey’s video has raked in more than one million views on TikTok with most users rushing to share their shock at the price of the drink. “How on earth can a cocktail cost that much money, it’s insane,” one said.
