Prankster steals shoes from a sleeping woman and records her reaction on a Sydney train

A woman travelling on a Sydney train has become the victim of a cruel prank after a group of passengers hid her shoes while she was asleep.

A man wearing a tradesman uniform, sunglasses and a black cap is seen reaching over the aisle of the carriage before taking the woman’s shoes from under her seat.

The woman, who is wearing a pink tracksuit, continues to sleep, as his friends are heard laughing in the background.

The two-part series was uploaded to TikTok on Thursday and has been viewed nearly 500,000 times.

After receiving an overwhelming response to the first video on TikTok, the user posted the second to show his followers what happened next.

In the second video the woman wakes up and immediately begins to look for her missing shoes under the seat and around the carriage.

She then pulls out a pair of thongs from her rucksack, leaving one passenger in hysterics.

At the end of the video the pranksters record the woman putting her shoes back on, looking unimpressed.

The viral videos have divided viewers on TikTok, prompting a debate on whether the prank was cruel or justified.

Some users said the prank would stop the woman from putting her feet on seats or leaving her property unattended in the future.

‘Serves her right’, one user said.

‘If anything, it’s a lesson learned not to leave your shoes there, because someone could have taken them’, another commented.

However the majority of viewers slammed the the pranksters.

‘At least she took her shoes off and the carriage wasn’t full. She’s obviously tired and you guys have no idea what she’s going through’, one said.

‘Sad little boys! What if someone did this to your mum, sister or girlfriend?’ another questioned.

A spokesperson from Sydney Trains said that while the vast majority of their customers do the right thing, there’s unfortunately a small minority that spoil it for others.

‘Sydney Trains encourages all our customers to treat others with respect during their journey, including never interfering with someone else’s property.

‘We ask our customers to help us by reporting any incidents of anti-social behaviour to police or Sydney Trains staff.

‘We also remind customers to be aware of their surroundings and belongings while travelling.’
