It’s almost certainly going to be the only time in history the actor sister of a music megastar and a controversial British politician spend time together in a jungle.

Jamie Lynn Spears, sister of Britney and an actress in Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 and Sweet Magnolias, is one of 10 celebrity contestants cast in ITV‘s latest season of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!.

She’ll appear opposite Nigel Farage, one of the key players behind the UK’s exit from the European Union in 2016. He remains a hugely divisive character in the UK.

“There is literally every misconception you can have on a person about me so I don’t take any of it seriously,” said Spears. “But I do think going on I’m A Celebrity will be a nice way for people to see the real me. This is an opportunity to be myself and do something really cool and have some awesome experiences in the meantime.”

She recently competed in ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, soon after Zoey 102, a film sequel to sitcom Zoey 101, launched on Paramount+. She also appeared in Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test on Fox in January.

Farage, a friend of Donald Trump, has most recently been a broadcaster on controversial UK channel GB News, hosting one of its highest-rating shows. He’s best known as a critical MEP politician and leader of the UKIP party, which had a key role in the Brexit vote that saw the UK leave the European Union. The hardline Eurosceptic was also instrumental in the formation of the Brexit Party (now Reform UK), of which he remains Honorary President.

He becomes the second high profile British politician to appear on I’m a Celebrity… in recent years, following former Health Minister Matt Hancock who came third in the 2022 edition of the reality show. Hancock had the whip suspended by the Conservative party — effectively expelling him from its ranks —over the appearance.

In the jungle, Spears and Farage will be joined by the likes of First Dates star Fred Sirieix, Made in Chelsea‘s Sam Thompson and soap actors Danielle Harold and Nick Pickard. The Lifted Entertainment show launches on Sunday (November 19) on ITV1 and will also run on streamer ITVX.
