Strictly Come Dancing’s Nigel Harman was quick to retract his remarks on It Takes Two on Tuesday after sparking fury from pro partner Katya Jones.
The pair were talking to Fleur East on BBC’s spinoff show Strictly: It Takes Two to rake over the reaction to their second dance on Saturday.
Their Viennese Waltz didn’t go down with the judges as well as their first week’s dance, and head judge Shirley Ballas in particular was especially critical.

Responding to Shirley’s critique, Nigel Harman told It Takes Two host Fleur East: “It was a bit of a reality check but it actually is a bit of a gift because I don’t really know what I’m doing, so I’m making it up and trying to blag my way through it.”
Nigel’s pro partner Katya Jones then cut him off and told him: “That makes me sound really incompetent in my job!”
He then backtracked quickly as he said: “No no… let me rephrase it.

“So yeah, I’m kind of realising that technique is so important so I think what Shirley said is very valid and it gives me a reason to wake up in the morning.”
Nigel then revealed his dance for next week – Batman.
“I’m channelling Adam West. I think some form of lycra is coming. This will be the week when my friends stop ringing me.”
Katya said: “I don’t even know what story this is. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Week one we did this fiery, dominant dance and week two we were buttering toast.
“Nigel has sweated a lot.”
Strictly is back on Saturday, while It Takes Two continues every weekday at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
