Update: Two Arrests Made in Shooting Death of Beloved Indiana Deputy

Authorities in Indiana have charged two more suspects in connection with the shooting of an Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to a report by WDRB, Victoria Howard, a 35-year-old resident of New Albany, was arrested by the police on January 9. She is facing charges of aiding a criminal and providing false information. Investigators suspect that Howard assisted the suspect involved in a shooting to move to Louisville.

James Adams, a 37-year-old individual, was served an arrest warrant while he was at Scott County Jail, where he was serving a sentence for drug-related offenses. Adams has been charged with aiding a criminal and providing false information. The police mentioned that Adams played a significant role in assisting the suspect in reaching Craig Street in Louisville.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, a man shot an Indiana sheriff’s deputy on January 3 in the early morning hours.

The Indiana State Police revealed that the incident took place at approximately 12:30 a.m. when Orange County Deputy Zach Andry stopped to inspect a vehicle that was parked on the side of Highway 150 close to West Baden.

Andry suspected some sort of criminal activity during the traffic stop and asked the driver, 33-year-old Austin Schepers, to step out of the car. Instead, Schepers shot Andry four times and sped off, leaving the deputy bleeding in the roadway.

After surgery later that morning, Andry remained in critical but stable condition.

The Courier-Journal reported that on January 4, around 7:30 p.m., officers found Austin Schepers in the backyard of a house located in the 3700 block of Wheeler Avenue near Craig Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky. Schepers began shooting at the police, who returned fire.

Officers pronounced Schepers dead at the scene.
