Young Thug’s Longtime Girlfriend Jerrika Karlae Became His Ex after Their Engagement

Jerrika Karlae was Young Thug’s girlfriend for nearly ten years and, at one point, became his fiancee. Although Karlae was his last confirmed girlfriend, Young Thug is now rumored to be with another artist.

The exact timeline of Jerrika Karlae and Young Thug’s relationship was not disclosed to the public. However, based on previous interviews, the former lovers have known each other for a long time.

In 2022, however, Young Thug hinted at a new woman in his life, R&B singer Mariah the Scientist. The pair were spotted cozying to each other on different occasions and visibly supportive of each other through triumphs and hardships.

When the entertainer was behind bars, Mariah was among those who performed before screens that had “Free YSL” and “Free Thugger” signs on them. Similarly, Young Thug did not let his jail time prevent him from showing love to Mariah.

To celebrate her sold-out concert, Young Thug sent balloons to Mariah’s hotel room. He also shared photos of the young singer on his social media.

According to Karlae, Young Thug really believed in her music, so his feelings for her never interfered with his decisions.

Mariah was born in Atlanta, Georgia, as Mariah Buckles. Music has been her interest since elementary, but it wasn’t until 2018 that she released her debut EP on SoundCloud. When Canadian rapper Tory Lanez saw potential in her, he signed her for a record deal under One Umbrella Records.

Years later, Mariah shared the screen with Young Thug as they appeared in the music video for their collaboration “Walked In.” The short clip showed the duo marry and celebrate their union with friends.

Young Thug’s Last Confirmed Girlfriend Is Jerrika Karlae

Although the on-screen couple’s romance is rumored to extend in real life, Young Thug’s last confirmed relationship was with Karlae.

Karlae, born in Borth Carolina, is also a model, influencer, and entrepreneur. Her interest in fashion led her to launch her affordable swimwear line, Karlae Swimwear.

However, Karlae’s main passion is music, which stemmed from her mother’s influence as a previous artist manager. Karlae grew up assisting her mom in recording sessions and attending concerts, and before she knew it, she became a singer and songwriter.

Some of Karlae’s songs include “Trance” and “I Like,” both from her “Slime Language 2” album. It was also through music that Karlae met Young Thug. She eventually signed under his label, YSL Records, and they started working together.

However, the duo never allowed their romance to get in the way of their business relationship. According to Karlae, Young Thug believed in her music, so his feelings for her never interfered with his decisions.

Some still question the rapper’s masculinity, claiming he is gay due to his way of dressing.

In 2021, Karlae revealed that she and the “Pick Up The Phone” rapper have been together for seven years after getting linked in Miami. She said:

“We were friends for a really long time, and then we started dating. We got engaged, and I was on the road with him for a long time.” In total, they have been friends for seven years and lovers for seven as well.

Jerrika Karlae Is Still in Touch with Yung Thug

In December 2020, Karlae hinted at her new relationship status after tweeting that she would be single in 2021. When fans started commenting on her love life, the singer revealed that 2020 “came with a lot of problems,” and she no longer wants to return to her past.

While it is apparent that Karlae and Young Thug are no longer together, they seem to maintain their friendship. She is still working under her ex-fiance’s label, which Karlae believes is a win-win situation for her as she continues working with people she calls family.

Karlae and Young Thug also previously spoke while he was behind bars. During an interview, Karlae revealed that Young Thug was “in great spirits.” She added, “I feel like this is just a moment for him to learn a lot of lessons.”

Young Thug Is Neither Gay nor Straight

Despite Young Thug’s previous relationship, some still question the rapper’s masculinity, claiming he is gay due to his way of dressing. The entertainer has since addressed such rumors, saying he is neither straight nor gay.

Young Thug’s style has gotten bolder and wilder in the past years. The “Go Crazy” artist’s wardrobe drew more attention after he donned brown leather pants with a pink flag at the back during a performance. He said:

“I like everything that people say. No matter what they say: [You’re] gay. [You’re] a punk. You got a nice girlfriend. You’re ugly. You can’t rap. You’re the hardest.”

Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams in 1992, realized his passion for music amidst a difficult life getting in trouble with the law. He released songs such as “I Got It,” “100 Dollar Autograph,” and “Who’s On Top.”

It wasn’t until 2013 that Gucci Mane noticed and signed him to the 1017 Brick Squad and released “1017 Thug.” Young Thug has since become a music legend, releasing several hits such as “The Carter 6,” “Picacho,” “I Came From Nothing,” and “I Came From Nothing 2.”
