Robert Sheehan Used to Date Sofia Boutella, but a Long-Distance Relationship Didn’t Work Out for Them

Sheehan once said he was with French-Algerian dancer and actress Sofia Boutella for a long time. The pair starred in the “Jet Trash” film and reportedly began dating in 2014.

Sheehan debuted their relationship in 2015 at an honoring ceremony at Trinity College in Dublin, where he was honored with the Burke Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Discourse Through the Arts.

Since their publicized romance, the couple has attended several red-carpet events. Sheehan even graced the premiere screening of Boutella’s film “Tiger Raid” in 2016.

Like many other famous couples, Sheehan and Boutella have had both good and bad times in their relationship. This can be attributed to their busy acting careers and time constraints.

In 2017, the Irish actor opened up and said their busy filming schedules often kept them apart, the longest being six weeks. Despite this, they still found themselves quarreling between work commitments. However, they were able to work things out.

However, Sheehan viewed their misunderstanding as common occurrences. He emphasized that when two individuals are deeply in love, they tend to argue the most because they are most likely the most sensitive to each other’s feelings and emotions.

After dating for four years, the couple finally split in 2018. According to Sheehan, the long-distance nature of their relationship was the cause of their breakup. Despite this, their split was cordial. He said:

“Luckily, we’re still friends. We still love each other a lot. We still acknowledge that, you know.”

Since their separation, Sheehan has kept his dating life private. In 2020, he revealed he started practicing meditation and writing shortly after their breakup.

Sheehan and Boutella’s breakup is one of Hollywood’s most unexpected separations. Similarly, Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone, and Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey, also shocked fans by ending their relationships after a few years of dating.

While Sheehan is a straight actor, he doesn’t mind taking on challenging roles, like playing a gay character in intimate scenes. He is most renowned for his performance as BJ, a male prostitute, in the movie “Red Riding Trilogy.”

Sheehan initially stated that he wouldn’t engage in sexual acts with a fan but later confessed that it was untrue. He was aware of the “imbalance” between him and his admiring fans.

In his view, if he were to engage in intimate relations with a fan, it would be seen as exploiting their admiration and taking advantage of the situation. To avoid this, he steers clear of such scenarios.

Additionally, Sheehan shared his preferences for a partner, saying that he looks for qualities beyond physical appearances, such as a love for life, a good sense of humor, and the ability to have fun.

He also has plans to start a family and have children in the future. He believes that starting a family is a significant aspect of life, and he doesn’t want to miss out on it.
