British actor Rupert Grint caught the audience’s attention when he landed the role of Ron Weasley in the cult “Harry Potter” film series. He was just 11, and over the next ten years, fans watched him grow up on the screen — throughout, he remained the impulsive but always loyal Ron.

Over two decades after “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” the British actor revealed that he was a changed man. Rupert Grint’s daughter’s birth in 2020 transformed his habits and outlook on life.

Born on August 24, 1988, in Essex, United Kingdom, Rupert Grint was lucky enough to be cast as one of the three main characters in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling “Harry Potter” book series alongside fellow juvenile actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

The eight “Harry Potter” films consumed Rupert’s professional life for ten years. Besides playing Ron Weasley, he has managed to fit in several movies. His impressive résumé includes the films “Wild Target,” “Into the White, “Moonwalkers,” and TV series like “Snatch,” “Sick Note,” and “The ABC Murders.”

Rupert is currently starring in M. Night Shyamalan’s horror series “Servant,” with Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, and Nell Tiger Free, now in its fourth season, and was cast by the director of “The Sixth Sense” in his apocalyptic horror film “Knock at the Cabin.”

But whatever exciting projects may come his way in the future, Rupert’s most challenging and demanding role is definitely that of the father of Wednesday G. Grint.

Rupert Grint Welcomed His Daughter Wednesday in May 2020

Rupert welcomed daughter Wednesday Groome Grint with longtime girlfriend Georgia Groome in May 2020. In 2018, Rupert hinted that parenthood was part of his plans, saying:

“Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn’t feel like I’m there yet and I don’t know what the future holds, I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters, and see what happens. I’d like to settle down and have kids soon.”

Rupert and Georgia announced the pregnancy in April 2020, and little Wednesday arrived a month later. Wednesday was born in Birmingham, UK, in the midst of the pandemic, and her parents thanked their midwife for her help and support.

Rupert Grint Named His Daughter after Wednesday Addams

Rupert had always “threatened” that if he had a son, he would name him after a “Harry Potter” character, but when the baby turned out to be a daughter, he chose another cult movie franchise as an inspiration.

Wednesday is already getting used to the bustle of a set, and her dad promoted season 3 of his series “Servant” on Instagram with a snap of his baby.

Rupert named his baby girl after Wednesday, the strange, dour daughter from “The Addams Family,” played in the 1991 and 1993 movies by actress Christina Ricci. The actor admitted he has always loved “The Addams Family.”

Rupert is making sure that Wednesday is growing up Gryffindor, steeped in the lore and tradition of Hogwarts. The actor revealed to Jimmy Fallon on ” The Tonight Show”:

“I’ve already started showing her the [Harry Potter] trailers. She has a wand and a PEZ dispenser with my head on it.”

Since Rupert revealed that he hadn’t seen all of the “Harry Potter” movies yet, he will have the opportunity to share that experience with his daughter as she grows up, and Ron Weasley will have a brand new fan.

Wednesday Is Already Visiting Her Father on Set

Wednesday is already getting used to the bustle of a set, and her dad promoted season 3 of his series “Servant” on Instagram with a snap of his baby sitting comfortably in the director’s chair.

Rupert confessed that Wednesday’s visits to the set had a drawback. Since she has heard him practicing his lines in his trailer, she has started dropping the F-word. Her dad confessed that it’s hard to break her of the habit because he and Georgia can’t help laughing.

Rupert Grint Confessed That Becoming Wednesday’s Dad Has “Definitely Changed” His Outlook on Life

Rupert was already working on “Servant” when Wednesday was born and suddenly realized how unnerving the series is. In the series, a young couple grieving for their newborn’s cot death buys a reborn doll. They hire a nanny who seems to bring the doll to life.

The actor revealed that he suffered from insomnia for years, and the idea that sleep is dangerous to babies was unnerving. Not the best mindset for a new dad, but Rupert worked through his anxiety and has embraced fatherhood as the best thing that has ever happened to him.

Rupert jokingly spoke about changing his image now that he is a dad and confessed that Wednesday changed his attitude towards life and even his habits. He said:

“I stopped smoking straight away. I’ve started sleeping so much better—I used to be a horrific insomniac, now I’m sleeping.”

He even joined Instagram, something he admitted he’d resisted doing for ten years, but other than a few posts and two photos that don’t show Wednesday’s face, Rupert Grint remains a low-key dad, protecting his child from public scrutiny.
