The cause of death of an American tourist found dead on a stretch of beach in the Bahamas has been revealed by authorities.
Dinari McAlmont’s body was found on the morning of April 5, shortly after the start of his family vacation with his parents.
The McAlmont family had flown to the Bahamas on April 4 and had chosen to stay at the lavish Atlantis Paradise resort.
But, McAlmont, 23, went missing after telling his parents just before 9pm that he was going to explore the idyllic getaway.
This sparked an urgent search, and cops believe he drowned.
But, McAlmont’s family were shown a picture of him, and his mom said he looked unrecognizable.
“There is foul play,” a devastated Michelle told the Fox affiliate WTTG-TV.
“Because of all the bruises and you can see when somebody is abused, and hit at, yes, and that is what I am saying.”
Michelle was convinced her son had been beaten after being shown the image.
“He was traumatized,” she told Eyewitness News.
She revealed his hair was covered in sand, which led her to believe that he had been attacked.
McAlmont, a music producer, texted Michelle just before 9pm, telling her that he was going to go for an explore around the resort.
Then, he reportedly messaged her a second time around an hour later, saying he was going to a restaurant.

She messaged him at 12:30am the next morning asking for his whereabouts.
But, he didn’t reply, which sparked concern.
Michelle claimed she was told about an alleged incident involving her son.
She alleged cops told her that McAlmont had spat on someone at the restaurant.
And, officers later revealed that they had found her son’s cell phone, according to his mom.
Cops reportedly told Michelle that McAlmont had dropped his phone while running.
This again fueled her suspicions, believing her son had been targeted.
McAlmont worked at Lowcation Studios in Brentwood, Maryland, and he was known as Diddy.
“Diddy was more than an engineer to us, he was a great friend and an all around incredible individual,” an Instagram post said.
“He was deeply passionate about his work and always committed to bringing the ideas of artists to life.
“He was a true team player, always stepping up to lend an extra hand when needed and making sure to keep all of us laughing during team meetings
“This studio would not be where it is without him and I will always have the utmost respect and love for him.”
