Bikers Against Child Abuse did not live up to mission: Cops

The organization Bikers Against Child Abuse states that it aims to create a safer environment for abused children. However, a local chapter vice president allegedly acted against this mission by being involved in the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

John C. Todaro, a 49-year-old individual, was arrested by New York State Police troopers on charges related to promoting and possessing sexual performances by a child. Authorities claim that Todaro not only had the abusive materials in his possession but was also involved in distributing them, as mentioned in a press release.

According to troopers, Todaro is the vice president and an “active member” of the Buffalo chapter of the Bikers Against Child Abuse — a role that authorities say may have offered a path to his alleged crimes.

“Todaro would have had opportunities to be around children and child victims,” troopers said.

He was arraigned in the town of Amherst court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for another court date in May.

Bikers Against Child Abuse is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization and offers a 24/7 hotline for children to call if they are being abused and need help. The organization “exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children,” its website says.

“We exist as a body of bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live,” the website adds.
