On October 6, it was announced that Jada Pinkett Smith was writing a memoir called “No Holds Barred” that is expected to release “in fall 2023.” Editorial director Carrie Thornton released a statement to People about the book, saying, “The world has imposed many labels and narratives on Jada Pinkett Smith.” Thornton added, “This is down to the realities of our media landscape, but also the roles thrust upon women by culture.”
According to the publishing company’s statement, released by The Hollywood Reporter, the book will include everything about the “Madagascar” actor’s life in order to bring out the “celebration of authentic feminine power.” It was also mentioned that the memoir will include stories about her friendship with the late Tupac Shakur and her rocky relationship with her husband Will Smith.
This announcement of Jada’s memoir comes after her husband has been facing backlash for slapping comedian Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars. Although the infamous incident could have caused a rift between the couple, it only strengthened the pair’s bond. “Going through the Oscars incident as a team has only made their relationship stronger,” a source told Us Weekly. “She’s his biggest rock and he wouldn’t be where he is now without her.”
