Brandon Sklenar Reacts to Troll Calling Him 'Walmart Glen Powell'

Brandon Sklenar is not letting the trolls get to him.

Sklenar, 34, and Meghann Fahy were talking about their recent movie, Drop, in a video shared by MTV on Friday, April 11. A user on Instagram called Sklenar “Walmart Glen Powell,” which prompted a clever response from the actor.

“Who doesn’t love a bargain?” Sklenar replied.

The user was seemingly surprised to get a response from Sklenar but was impressed by his quick wit.

Brandon Sklener and Meghann Fahy’s latest movie proves first dates can truly be a nightmare. On Wednesday, January 22, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse debuted the first trailer for the highly anticipated thriller, Drop. The film tells the story of a widowed mother named Violet (Fahy) who embarks on her first date in years with Henry […]

“Rlly don’t know u from any movies yet but you’ve just gained a supporter 🤣,” the troll replied.

Although the social media user may not be aware of Sklenar’s body of work, he has been involved in several successful projects recently, such as the Yellowstone spinoff 1923. He also had a role in the popular movie It Ends With Us, where he starred alongside Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Sklenar portrayed Atlas, a childhood friend and love interest to Lively’s character.

After his involvement in It Ends With Us, Sklenar joined the cast of Drop with Fahy, 34. The film centers on Fahy’s character, a widow and survivor of domestic violence, as she goes on a date with a new romantic interest played by Sklenar. However, the date takes a dark turn when Fahy starts receiving unsettling AirDrops on her phone, compelling her to complete tasks to protect her daughter. The movie is directed by Christopher Landon, known for his work on Happy Death Day.

“It was after It Ends with Us, and 1923 [season 2] had pushed for some reason. So I was eager to keep working when Drop came along, and it just seemed like a great opportunity and a great acting exercise,” Sklenar said of the film in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Thursday, April 10. “It was also a chance to work with Chris, and I love his films: Freaky, Happy Death Day, and We Have a Ghost. That was a fun movie. I’m just a big horror-thriller fan.”

Sklenar was also cast in The Housemaid, which is a film adaptation of the Freida McFadden book of the same name. In addition to Sklenar, Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried have been cast in the thriller.

All three films Sklenar has worked on in the past year have had themes of domestic violence — giving the movies a personal connection to him.

“It’s a theme that’s been around me and in my life for a long time,” Sklenar explained to THR. “Someone very close to me has been dealing with it for many years, and I’ve been helping her navigate that space as much as I can. Perhaps, by the grace of God, it keeps finding its way into my sphere as a theme because it’s a theme in my own life.”
