The battle over Wendy Williams’ guardianship continues, with a judge making critical remarks in court.
In court, Williams was subject to disparaging remarks about her career and family made by Judge Lisa Sokoloff. These comments were reportedly very hurtful to Wendy, according to TMZ.
Sokoloff told Williams her career was over, saying, “It’s done,” in reference to her time on television and radio.
Additionally, the judge reprimanded Williams’ niece for allegedly leaking information to the media and cautioned that there would be consequences if it occurred in the future. Sokoloff went as far as denouncing Williams’ family as “no good.”
TMZ highlighted the high level of public interest in Wendy’s career, pointing to the success of the Tubi documentary Saving Wendy and ongoing media attention surrounding her.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, filed a memo last year claiming Williams had become “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated” due to early-onset dementia.
Williams said the guardianship, in place since 2022, restricts her movements.
Ginalisa Monterroso, a medical aid consultant representing Williams, said Williams initially agreed to the guardianship to help manage her finances. She now believes it imposes unnecessary control over her life.
Williams’ attorney, Joe Tacopina, plans to take the case to a jury if the judge refuses to end the guardianship, according to TMZ.
