Brit toddler, 3, drowns in pool at Greece hols villa as he’s ‘found in water by heartbroken family after wandering off’

A BRITISH toddler has tragically drowned in a swimming pool while on a family holiday to Greece.

The three-year-old was found unresponsive in the water by his grandparents on the island of Zante after reportedly wandering off by himself.

Ambulance crews rushed to the holiday villa and quickly took the boy to hospital.

He was sadly pronounced dead as he arrived, according to local media.

The heartbreaking death took place on Sunday afternoon in a holiday region of the small village of Planos.

The toddler was with his mother, two aunts and grandparents at a rented villa, according to Greek state broadcaster ERT.

He reportedly went into the swimming pool as his family members were inside the villa preparing to go out for lunch, their report added.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has since confirmed the tot’s death.

A representative mentioned that they are offering consular assistance to the relatives of a British minor who passed away in Greece and are communicating with the Greek authorities.

Investigations are still ongoing into the exact circumstances around the child’s death.

The luxury villa where the family were staying has since been found to be a £2,000-a-week four-bedroom home, according to the MailOnline.

The tragic incident came just hours before two other Brit tourists also drowned in Australia.

A 42-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were pulled from the water in Queensland on Sunday afternoon but couldn’t be saved.

A third man, 37, from nearby town of Monto, was also dragged under but miraculously survived.

He was airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a critical condition with a serous head injury.

The death of 14-year-old Daniel Halliday was also confirmed to be from drowning last week.

He was swept out to see while playing with pals on a fun day out at Crosby Beach in Sefton, Merseyside, on June 30 last year, an inquest heard.
