Police in upstate New York are currently searching for a 28-year-old man who is accused of stabbing a woman on a Sunday afternoon and fleeing the scene, which led to a shelter in place order being issued overnight.
The suspect, Jacob Sawyer, is still evading authorities. However, the shelter in place order was lifted on Monday morning. Despite that, as a precaution, several nearby businesses and schools remained closed on Monday morning, as reported by WCAX.
Sawyer’s victim was hospitalized in stable condition after the mid-afternoon attack, according to Ticonderoga Police.
A warrant for Sawyer’s arrest charges him with attempted murder, burglary, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Efforts to track down the suspect continued on Monday afternoon with the help of dogs, but as of now, Sawyer has not been apprehended. Law enforcement officials have stated that they do not have any information suggesting that anyone other than Sawyer’s victim is in danger. At this point, they have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between Sawyer and the victim.
Sawyer is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ticonderoga police at 518-585-3456.
