A 52-year-old California sheriff’s deputy has been arrested after he sent explicit material and planmed to meet up with an undercover investigators posing as a 15-year-old.
Anthony Russo worked for the department’s corrections division and resigned after his arrest, the Mercury News reported.
Investigators said they received a tip about Russo on Wednesday and immediately set up the sting operation, which resulted in his arrest.
Jail records show he was charged with sending harmful material to a minor, contacting a minor to commit sexual acts, and annoying/molesting a victim under the age of 15.
He was released the day after his arrest on a $50,000 bail. It’s not clear if there were any conditions to the bail.
