At least six people have been hospitalized after an active shooter opened fire on Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus Thursday.
Based on reports from the Tallahassee Democrat, videos reveal law enforcement officers capturing the alleged shooter on the ground after students evacuated the student union at noon.
Witnesses observed a man leaving the student union while carrying a gun, with one individual telling the news source they heard what seemed to be “automatic gunfire.”
Following the sound of gunshots, students were notified to take cover through an emergency alert instructing them about the police presence or imminent arrival.
One of the victims has been listed in critical condition, while five others are said to be in serious condition. NBC News reports that the FBI is on-site as campus, city, and state officials gather at the location, according to a bureau spokesperson.
Officials at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Hospital have not shared any information about the victims, and the suspected gunman’s identity has yet to be revealed.
