A Florida couple was arrested on Monday, two days after the woman’s 10-year-old daughter was reportedly injured as a result of abuse.
Over the weekend, Georgy Almony, aged 42, is said to have punished his stepdaughter for an altercation with her brother by making her place her hand on a hot stove. The Miami-Dade police reported that the girl cried out in agony before running away with Almony’s phone to contact her mother, Milliene Adeclat, 36, who was at work during the incident as per WPLG.
Following the incident, which left the girl with a burn shaped like a coil on her hand and skin loss, Adeclat allegedly failed to seek medical attention for her daughter or alert the authorities about what had taken place.
Police said a teacher notified them about the 10-year-old’s injuries on Monday. WPLG reported that Adeclat denied all allegations during questioning.
Almony is facing charges of aggravated child abuse resulting in serious bodily harm, while Adeclat has been charged with child neglect causing significant bodily harm. Adeclat is also accused of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence after allegedly pushing aside the officers trying to apprehend her and physically assaulting them.
Almony’s bond was set at $7,500. Adeclat was jailed on a $1,500 bond.
