PRESIDENT Donald Trump abruptly ended a news conference and the press was rushed out of the room after a medical emergency.
Trump was speaking to reporters at a swearing-in ceremony for Dr. Mehmet Oz when a girl in the crowd collapsed.
The president was finishing up his speech with comments about the nuclear power situation in Iran when the young girl collapsed.
Guests quickly gathered around to check on the girl’s well-being, and a woman was observed consoling her following the incident, while White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt directed reporters to depart.
“Press out,” she said as the collapsed person received medical attention.
Trump stopped his speech mid-sentence as he momentarily left the podium to see what was happening.
“I hope she’s OK,” the president was heard saying.
Dr. Oz’s wife, Lisa, could be seen putting her hand over her mouth with a concerned look.
Others supported the collapsed attendee as she was escorted out of the Oval Office.
“A minor family member fainted during Dr. Oz’s swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office,” a White House Official said, according to The Independent.
“We are happy to say she is OK.”
It’s unclear what caused the child to faint.
Dr. Oz was being sworn in to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under President Trump.
As Trump presented the doctor, he praised him as “one of the most skilled and respected medical experts in the country,” and proceeded to list the doctor’s credentials.
The 64-year-old received his undergraduate degree from Harvard, where he played on the football team.
Back in 1986, the host acquired a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Wharton School.
He later worked as a heart surgeon and professor of cardiac surgery at Columbia University and as the Director of the Cardiovascular Institute and integrative medicine program at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Oz began hosting his health and wellness talk show, The Dr. Oz Show, in 2009 and ended it in 2022.
Since then, he’s become heavily involved in politics and even tried to run for an open Senate seat in Pennsylvania, where he was defeated by John Fetterman.
As Trump continued to read the doctor’s extensive resume he said, “Boy, oh, boy, Doc, I thought he just did a show.
“I only know the show,” he added.
Oz will now be working with Robert F. Kennedy on the administration’s mission to Make America Healthy Again.
