Florida man busted on Amtrak train with ‘small arsenal’ of weapons: AG

A man from Florida has been charged in Trenton, New Jersey, for reportedly getting on an Amtrak train with what authorities called a “small arsenal” of weapons.

Jeffrey O. Kennerk, a 34-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was discovered on a train on Jan. 3 carrying assault weapons, high-capacity ammunition magazines, handguns, silencers, and a trap-rigged rifle that discharged during his apprehension at the Trenton Transit Center, according to a statement from New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin’s office on April 16.

“This accused individual purportedly moved a small arsenal of lethal weapons and ammunition through crowded transit hubs, and aboard a train packed with passengers,” Platkin mentioned in a released statement. “He reportedly left a bag with various weapons and ammunition – which included an assault rifle – in the walkway of Newark Penn Station, posing a risk of harm to anyone. If it weren’t for the exceptional police actions taken in this case, one can only speculate where this suspect and these weapons would have ended up.”

A New Jersey Transit Police officer was tipped off to an unaccompanied black and white zebra-print suitcase near the entrance to the Newark subway.

Kennerk was indicted for possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, four counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, three counts of unlawful possession of an assault firearm, one count of aggravated assault and one count of certain persons not to have weapons, which are all second-degree crimes.

He was also charged with several fourth-degree crimes, including two counts of unlawful possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine, and one count each of unlawful possession of hollow nose ammunition, unlawful possession of a silencer, endangering another person and causing or risking widespread injury or damage.

Fox News Digital reached out to Platkin’s office and Kennerk’s attorney, Dominic Cerrito.
