Durk’s lawyers said prosecutors misled the grand jury by alleging Durk bragged about the attack in a song.
The song in question was reportedly recorded seven months prior to the incident, and it has been clarified that Durk does not have any association with a modified version that surfaced on YouTube later on.
Banks, on the other hand, is alleged to be the leader of a rap group based in Chicago known as Only the Family. This collective has been accused of orchestrating violent acts, including murder and assault, under the direction of Banks, as stated in a federal criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California last year.
He is accused of placing a “monetary bounty out for an individual with whom Banks was feuding,” according to the complaint.
According to the complaint, on August 19, 2022, several members of OTF reportedly collaborated to carry out an attack at a gas station in Los Angeles. They allegedly used two vehicles to track, stalk, and make an attempt on the life of T.B. as detailed in the legal document.
The charges are connected to the attempted 2022 revenge killing of rapper Quando Rondo at a Los Angeles gas station, a shooting that resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin.
Banks is one of five co-conspirators charged in the incident, with crimes including murder, murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, according to the complaint.
