Harpreet Singh was arrested last week by ICE agents. (ICE)
Singh is being sought after in India due to suspicion of his involvement with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a terrorist group established in the 1970s. This group has carried out various acts of violence, including political assassinations, armed assaults, and terrorist bombings, in order to advance its extremist objectives, as stated by authorities.
Allegedly, Singh played a role in providing financial support to terrorists, recruiting members, and orchestrating a grenade attack on an Indian Police Station and the residence of a retired Punjab police officer, intending to cause harm and create fear among law enforcement personnel.
He is also wanted by the Indian government for multiple violent extortion and threatening operations in India.
He is on the list of most-wanted individuals by Indian authorities, as reported by the Indian Intelligence Bureau. Officials in India suspect Singh of being a high-ranking operative within a cross-border terrorist network, directly associated with Harwinder Singh Rinda, a prominent figure within Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) based in Pakistan.
BKI is a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization.
