Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers received a piñata of himself after the Monday Night Football victory over Los Angeles Rams.
John Sutcliffe, a renowned Mexican sports journalist for ESPN in Spanish, gave Rodgers the piñata as a Christmas gift and made him hit it with a stick.
Sutcliffe, 53, is known for his over-the-top reporting, this time yelling out some words in Spanish before Rodgers softly hit the poorly-depicted piñata of himself.
Rodgers, 39, has known Sutcliffe for quite some time now, so it’s clear to see why he indulges the unique reporter.
The pair shouted “Monday Night Football” in Sutcliffe’s style to finish the interview.
Why did Sutcliffe give Rodgers the piñata?
The piñata was a Christmas gift for Rodgers, but Sutcliffe chose that specific item because it represents Mexico.
Sutcliffe always does a great job of showcasing his culture whenever interviewing NFL players.
It’s a great way to promote the sport in Mexico, a country that already loves more than one type of “football.”
Sutcliffe was fortunate that Rodgers was in great mood after the 24-12 home win. Green Bay still has a shot at reaching the postseason if they beat their final three opponents.
