Two Spoons Gluten-Free Keto-Friendly Ice Cream Is Reinventing The Dessert Game

If you are a fan of ice cream like me, you might have considered a trip to California to taste the delicious offering from Two Spoons.

For individuals dealing with celiac disease, finding a tasty gluten-free ice cream can be quite challenging. Additives and artificial flavors in some products can exacerbate the unpleasant experience when you reach the bottom of the container.

So when I heard that there was a new ice cream that was gluten-free, sugar-free, and high-protein, I knew I had to give it a shot!

There’s A Lot To Love About Two Spoons Ice Cream!

The decision to try Two Spoons ice cream was driven by its gluten-free nature, a crucial factor for someone like me. Additionally, with approximately 30 grams of protein per serving, this treat offers a significant protein intake that is often difficult and costly to obtain.

In addition, this ice cream also contains no sugar or sugar alcohols, making it a good option for those on a low-carb or ketogenic diet. The ice cream is sweetened with allulose, which is an all-natural sweetener found in figs and maple syrup. Allulose may trigger the release of GLP-1, a hormone that plays a role in regulating appetite, blood sugar, and weight. All of that sounds good to me!

Right now, their ice cream comes in four flavors: Rocky Road, Strawberries & Cream, Caramel Swirl, and Fudgy Brownie. I was advised to start with Rocky Road, and so I did!

Rocky Road Is Definitely The Best Of The Bunch!

I was advised to try this flavor first, and I can understand why! I don’t think that I’ve ever had an ice cream that had marshmallow swirls that were as creamy as this! This one definitely had the most texture: my pint was teeming with crushed almonds, chocolate fudge chunks, and ribbons of marshmallow.

If you like mix-ins and like “digging” through your ice cream to make the most out of each bite, then you will probably enjoy this pint. Just be warned that it will probably disappear faster than you think it will! I got so caught up digging through the pint for a particularly large chocolate chunk that I didn’t realize I had already eaten over half the container. Oops.

Best Served: Eaten on its own or a large scoop on top of a brownie, with an additional drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Caramel Swirl Is Full Of Caramel Drizzle

The second flavor that I tried was the caramel swirl, and I was immediately pleased to see the swirls of caramel threaded through the top of the ice cream. You know those other brands that say they have a swirl but only contain one or two ribbons near the bottom? This is not that. There is a lot of caramel woven throughout, enough to get some with each spoonful.

The lack of chunky mix-ins in this pint really allowed me to test the texture of the ice cream. It is a lot denser than most of the other sugar-free ice creams on the market, which is a good thing! I feel like this is honestly the closest that you will get to “regular” ice cream, so if you have someone who is notoriously “picky” about eating “healthy” ice cream, I’d have them try this. I don’t think they’d notice a difference!

Two Spoons Strawberries & Cream Is Unlike Any Strawbery Ice Cream You’ve Ever Tried!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the strawberries and cream, but it definitely brought the cream! Out of all four flavors, this was definitely the creamiest of the bunch. The most interesting bit about this ice cream was the strawberry sauce. If you were expecting chunks of strawberry, this is not that. Instead, this is a gelatinous swirl of strawberry that, if we’re being honest, got a bit watery at times, that stood out from the melting ice cream. It’s definitely different from any other strawberry ice cream I’ve tried so far!

Best Served: On top of a warm, fudgy brownie or alongside a slice of chocolate cake.

Fudgy Brownie Is Perfect For A Hot Summer Day

This flavor was definitely the most chocolate-rich of the batch. The base flavor seemed to have more chocolate than the rocky road, or maybe it only tasted that way due to the lack of mix-ins. I found myself digging for a brownie piece, only finding a few wayward nuggets here and there. This ice cream also took the longest to melt, likely due to the stabilizing quality of the chocolate and the lack of mix-ins.

This led me to perform my own experiment to see how long it took each ice cream to melt when they were approximately halfway full. The strawberries and cream and caramel swirl melted the fastest, followed closely by the rocky road. The fudgy brownie took a solid seven minutes more to develop that same melty quality, making it the perfect ice cream to scoop onto a cone on a hot summer day!

Best Served: Eaten on its own or alongside a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for those feeling extra indulgent.
