It is not known for sure if Antonio Brown, the troubled former Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star is a believer or not, but he just had his Christmas miracle: the lawsuit he had against him for domestic assault was withdrawn, so the warrant for his arrest is no longer in effect and now he can walk the streets again like any normal person.
After his ex-partner accused him of having assaulted her during a domestic argument last November 28 in South Tampa Bay, local police issued an arrest warrant and were stationed for several days with patrol cars and agents outside the former player’s house.
The victim recanted her initial story
The person who accused Brown had a follow-up interview Wednesday in the case, but in the interview she recanted her original story, which is why prosecutors “determined that we could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that an assault took place.”
“As a result, a release letter was issued, formalizing the decision not to prosecute and withdrawing the previously issued arrest warrant.“
Now 34 years old and currently out of the game as a free agent, Brown could eventually return to the gridiron if any team is interested in his talents, although he has a long history of being an extremely volatile and confrontational player working against him.
Evidence reversed the arrest warrant
Investigators analyzed new information provided by the woman, along with a security camera video from the scene, an investigation by Child Protective Services and the denial of a temporary protective order.
After doing so, they determined that there was no justification to pursue an arrest warrant.
