A 74-year-old man from New Port Richey lost his life in a collision involving two vehicles in Marion County on a Saturday afternoon, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened at C.R. 25 and SE Sunset Harbor Road around 4:11 p.m.
The incident unfolded when an SUV, driven by an 80-year-old woman from Weirsdale, was heading east on Southeast Sunset Harbor Road and came to a halt at a stop sign near the intersection with C.R. 25.
At the same time, a motorcycle was traveling south on C.R. 25, approaching the same intersection.
Troopers said the SUV entered the intersection and the motorcycle collided with the side of the SUV.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 74-year-old New Port Richey man, was taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP.
