Furious fans demand refunds after discovering how influencer REALLY lost weight while selling diet plans

Health and wellness influencer Janelle Rohner is at the center of a controversy after admitting to taking Ozempic while selling weight loss plans.

Fans who were upset made their feelings known in the comment section of a YouTube video and a Reddit thread after Rohner, 37, disclosed that she had used a GLP-1. This raised doubts about her professional credibility as she endorsed a weight loss product.

In the video, Rohner talked about the various methods she had tried to manage her weight, such as keto, macro counting, exercise routines, and adjustments in her lifestyle.

In the YouTube clip posted Wednesday, Rohner said that the weight loss drug was not a major factor in maintaining her figure at the time.

She clarified by saying, ‘In the past year, I have made some changes to prioritize my health. I started collaborating with a doctor, and together we decided to incorporate a GLP-1 into my regimen. GLP-1s are not a quick fix, and they do not bring instant changes to your lifestyle. They simply serve as a tool to assist you; I still had to put in the effort.’

Rohner, who has 5.2 million followers on TikTok, posted this before-and-after comparison to drive sales last fall – during the time she was using Ozempic

Rohner – who has more than 5.2 million TikTok followers – had posted before-and-after comparison images to advertise her programs within the one-year timeframe she admitted to taking Ozempic.

Rohner said that she also drank large amounts of water, kept track of the meals she consumed, and exercised regularly amid the timeframe she said she was microdosing Ozempic to aid in her weight loss efforts.

She said that consuming the Ozempic helped her ‘regain a sense of control’ and is not something she wants ‘to be ashamed of.’

Rohner noted that she initially took entire doses of Ozempic to knock off the ‘stubborn 10 to 15 pounds’ prior to tamping down to ‘microdosing for maintenance.

‘I would, maybe, do a microdose once a month; I also paired those new lifestyle changes with something that was a real game changer for me – I started seeing a therapist regularly,’ said Rohner.

The comment section of the YouTube page was full of people who said Rohner had been misleading in selling weight loss items while not disclosing that she had been using a weight loss aid herself.

‘Fact of the matter… Your program was cheaper than a monthly GLP1 so they tried your program,’ one user said. ‘You ripped them off all the while you were stealing their money to afford compounded GLP1 .. this is a clear cut fraud case.’

Another user said that the issue wasn’t Rohner using Ozempic, but rather that she was ‘selling a $200 course to people to help them lose weight when counting macros wasn’t even enough for her to lose all of the weight she wanted to.

The influencer opened up about Ozempic use in the clip, titled 'Let’s talk: Therapy, GLP1 & The Truth About My recent Weight Loss'

‘It’s that she is t’s called lying by omission by not disclosing she was pairing the meds with the diet. & this isn’t a hateful comment. It’s fact. “This course will literally change your life and the way you view food.” That’s a direct quote from the course page. It’s false advertisement if she needed a GLP1 as well.’

The user added that ‘all of her recent customers should be refunded at least partially because they were missing part of the equation if they weren’t also on a GLP1.’

Some people said they were disappointed by Rohner’s admission, while another said they unfollowed the content creator after the reveal.

Said one YouTube user: ‘The issue isn’t about using GLP-1 or seeking help from a doctor for your mental health, no one is upset about that. So please don’t use that as a cover.

‘The real problem is charging people for a weight loss program while hiding the true reason behind your own weight loss something you don’t even seem to believe in yourself, which is why you turned to medication.’

The user addressed Rohner in saying, ‘You’re taking people’s money, misleading them, and not being honest with yourself either. That’s the issue. No one has a problem with others using the medication, because they’re not selling a false narrative.’

In the clip description on her YouTube page, the influencer wrote, ‘This isn’t easy to say, but I owe it to you to be honest. Janelle Rohner is microdosing a GLP-1. I’ve quietly been working on my mental health, trying to find peace in the chaos.

‘I know sharing this might open me up to judgment, but hiding it would mean losing the most important thing: my truth. I’m not perfect, but l’m healing, and I hope that means something to someone out there who’s struggling too.’
