High school basketball insider, Tarek Fattal, shared more details about the crash, revealing that the medically induced coma was because Alijah inhaled too much smoke.

The Cause Of Alijah Arenas’ Accident
The serious accident was likely the result of excessive speed, according to law enforcement sources who spoke to TMZSports.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the crash around 5 AM in the Winnetka neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. The incident occurred on a two-lane residential street with a speed limit of 40 MPH.
At the time of the crash, Alijah was driving alone in the Tesla Cybertruck, which was registered in his father’s name.
Sources familiar with the investigation revealed that speeding is believed to have contributed to the crash. Alijah reportedly lost control of the Cybertruck, collided with a fire hydrant, and then slammed into a large tree.
Despite the early hour, several nearby residents heard the impact and rushed outside to help.

It continued, “That’s when I realized someone was inside. I tried to break the window, but it wouldn’t give.”
The Good Samaritan concluded, “Then I saw one of the windows was cracked just enough and we used everything we had to bend it and pull him out. The car was on fire. We just knew we had to get him out.”
