‘Masked Singer’ Boss Says Security Is So Intense, It’s Like A Secret Government Mission

Executive producer Craig Plestis recently spilled the behind-the-scenes tea, admitting the entire experience is like “being in lockdown at a government facility.” Yep, it’s that intense!
Plestis revealed he always gives the celebrity contestants a heads-up before they sign on the dotted line, warning them, “We tell all of our celebrities, ‘This is going to be an experience unlike you’ve ever experienced on any show, movie, whatever you’ve done before.’”
According to PEOPLE, Plestis said the show’s ever-growing security team is no joke. “We always say the best job to have on The Masked Singer is to be part of the security detail. That’s the one that keeps growing,” he said, joking about how much effort goes into keeping everything airtight.

Judge Jenny McCarthy backed up that sentiment, comparing “The Masked Singer”‘s top-secret vibes to the final season of “Game of Thrones.”
“I feel like that’s how ‘The Masked Singer’ is when you enter the lot. It is so secretive. It is so compartmentalized,” McCarthy explained.
‘Masked Singer’ Stars Banned From Speaking Backstage, Even To Each Other

And if you thought you could sneak in a little backstage chitchat with fellow masked celebs? Think again.
In one of the show’s wildest behind-the-scenes rules, contestants aren’t even allowed to talk to each other! That’s right, absolutely no communication between competitors is permitted.
“It’s all a mystery wrapped up in another mystery,” Plestis teased about the strict no-talking policy.

‘Masked Singer’ Contestants Can’t Even Drive Themselves To Set

Executive producer Craig Plestis also confirmed that contestants aren’t even allowed to drive their own cars to set!
“They get picked up in cars that are blacked out. Even the drivers don’t know who they’re picking up,” Plestis explained. “We provide all cars.”
The secret agent-level precautions don’t stop there. Because paparazzi often lurk outside the lot, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mystery celebs, even the drop-off locations are kept under wraps.
“Some people do double cars where they get dropped off and they go into another car if we feel like there’s somebody tracking them,” Plestis revealed. “They’ll never be picked up at the celebrity’s house. They’ll be picked up at another third-party location. So that way, the driver doesn’t know who it is either.”
With “The Masked Singer” semi-finals airing Wednesday, April 30th, one thing’s for sure: the masks are about to come off, and the internet is ready to explode.
