A Maryland man is behind bars after his girlfriend was found beaten to death and haphazardly hidden inside her own apartment.

Accused of murder charges, Michael McClanahan, 38, is facing one count each of first-degree murder and second-degree murder. Additionally, he is charged with attempting to dispose of a body, as per the Prince George’s County Police Department press release issued regarding the case.

The incident unfolded on April 24 when authorities received a request for a welfare check at the couple’s dwelling in Suitland, located on Ewing Avenue, a medium-sized census-designated place and suburbs of Washington, D.C.

Inside, officers found the victim, Sherron Turner, 44, deceased.
