Hailey Bieber is facing backlash on social media for supposedly imitating Selena Gomez once again, this time by allegedly using a line verbatim from one of the singer’s previous interviews.
The controversy resurfaced when Hailey Bieber received the Beauty Innovator Award at the Daily Front Row’s 9th Annual Fashion Awards last week and delivered her acceptance speech.

Hailey Bieber Accused Of Echoing Selena Gomez In Rhode Acceptance Speech

While addressing the audience, the creator of Rhode Skin stated, “When I launched Rhode, I didn’t want it to be just a brand. I really aimed to build an entire universe.”
Sounds familiar? That’s because fans quickly dug up a 2021 interview where Selena said something almost identical. “I didn’t want to launch a makeup line for the sake to launch a brand,” she said at the time. “What interests me is cultivating beauty from the inside.”
The “Only Murders in the Building” star continued, “The idea was to tell those who would buy Rare Beauty products: you are beautiful, you are special and here is a place where you can try different things on your lashes, lips, and eyelids… with a big range of colors.”

Viral Clip Sparks Outrage As Fans Slam Hailey

A side-by-side comparison of the two speeches posted to TikTok lit up the comments section, and Selenators were not having it. One user even called Hailey a “creepy stalker copycat.”
“She copies everything,” another user declared.
“Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern,” someone else posted.
“Does Hailey have a personality of her own?” a fourth asked.
“Oops she did it again..” another wrote.
And the claws came out with this one. “At this point she does it on purpose cause without Selena’s name, her and her husband would be forgotten. He been flopping ever since he got married.”

The Selena vs. Hailey Drama Isn’t Dying Down

The internet has long pitted Hailey and Selena against each other due to their ties to pop star Justin Bieber. Selena dated him on and off for nearly eight years before their final split in 2018. Hailey and Justin secretly tied the knot later that same year.
Since then, every move Hailey makes is put under a microscope by Gomez’s loyal fans.
In 2023, she was slammed for seemingly throwing shade in a TikTok video with Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye, mouthing the now-infamous line, “I’m not saying she deserved it, but God’s timing is always right,” which many believed was aimed at Selena during a wave of body-shaming backlash.
That same year, fans accused Hailey of copying Selena’s behind-the-ear cursive “G” tattoo.

Hailey tried to shut the rumors down during her 2022 Call Her Daddy interview, insisting it was “all love” between her and Selena, but the internet isn’t buying it.

Split Reactions To Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Remarks

Still, not everyone thinks the speech similarity is that deep.
“I feel like everyone says this about their own business tho??” one fan defended.
“And MANY other celebrities use this line,” someone else expressed.
“It’s almost as if… they’re both given speeches/told what to say by their PR team…” said another.
Hailey Bieber Thanks Justin In Emotional Speech

The 28-year-old model and founder of Rhode Beauty gave Justin a sweet shoutout while accepting her Beauty Innovator Award, saying, “I want to thank my husband for supporting this dream of mine from the beginning and for always cheering me on. Thank you.”
Before turning her attention to her husband, Hailey gave a heartfelt shoutout to her close friends, describing them as her biggest “cheerleaders.”
She also gave a special mention to her longtime friend and hairstylist, Jen Atkin, who had the honor of presenting her with the award.

“I want to thank our incredible customers and supporters,” Hailey told the crowd. “Without you, the community we have built at Rhode does not exist. I want to thank my friends for being the best test subjects and biggest cheerleaders. I want to thank Jen for presenting me with this award. I’ve learned so, so much from her. Not just about beauty and brand building, but in life, in general.”
So is it a PR coincidence or copycat behavior? Either way, the internet court of public opinion has plenty to say.
