Canceled TV Shows 2025: Which Of Your Favorite Shows Got The Axe?

We’re only five months into 2025, but dozens of fan-favorite broadcast and streaming series have already been canceled.

Last year saw the conclusion of beloved shows such as The Acolyte, Our Flag Means Death, My Lady Jane, Station 19, and The Flight Attendant. Sadly, this year promises more goodbyes, with a mix of spinoffs, limited series, and long-running favorites facing cancelation.

Decider has meticulously gathered all the major cancelations of 2025, spanning networks like ABC, FOX, CBS, and NBC, as well as popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV+, and Disney+. This comprehensive list aims to keep fans informed about the fate of their must-watch series.

The list excludes shows reaching their natural conclusion or those ending on their own terms in 2025. Notable exceptions include 9-1-1: Lone Star, officially canceled in 2024 but concluding in 2025, and Heartstopper, confirmed to end on Netflix but receiving a movie for closure. Also missing are shows like The Bachelorette, on hiatus for 2025 without a formal cancelation. The highlighted titles are those abruptly axed or prematurely ended by network decisions this year. Decider will update this roster regularly as developments unfold over the coming months.

Brace yourselves, TV lovers. The 2025 bloodbath has begun. So grab your tissues, fire up your group chats, and get ready to learn which beloved series got the boot so far in 2025.

Otherwise, here’s a list of canceled TV shows in 2025 so far.

  • Almost Paradise: On April 4, TVLine confirmed that Paradise starring Christian Kane was canceled after two seasons as a result of Amazon Freevee getting canned in 2024.
  • Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny: On April 16, Deadline reported that Amazon canceled Citadel‘s international spinoffs, but per Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios, said, “Having successfully traversed India and Italy, storylines from both Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will be woven into the upcoming second season of the mothership series Citadel.” So not all is lost! Citadel Season 2 is expected in 2026.
  • Clean Slate: After one season, Variety confirmed on April 18 that Clean Slate was canceled. The series starred Laverne Cox, George Wallace, and more, and was the final series produced by Norman Lear before his 2023 death.
  • Cruel Intentions: On March 10, Variety also reported that Cruel Intentions — starring Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, and more — was canceled after just one season
  • Neighbours: On February 21, BBC reported that the beloved Australian soap opera Neighbours was canceled again, two years after Amazon MGM Studios saved it from Channel 5 cancellation. New episodes will reportedly continue airing on Prime Video through the end of 2025.
  • The Power: On April 8, TVLine confirmed that Toni Collette’s series “is in fact canceled and will not be returning for Season 2” as fans had hoped.
  • The Pradeeps Of Pittsburgh: After just one season, Deadline reported on February 7 that Prime Video chose not to renew The Pradeeps Of Pittsburgh, starring Naveen Andrews, Sindhu Vee, and Megan Hilty, for a second season. The series was part of Amazon Freevee’s slate, and as we know, Freevee was shuttered in 2024.
  • The Sticky: Despite a solid 80% Tomatometer score for Season 1, on February 21, fans of the Margo Martindale Canadian heist comedy learned that Prime Video opted not to renew The Sticky for a Season 2.

  • After Midnight: On March 26, CBS canceled Taylor Tomlinson’s late-night show, After Midnight after two seasons. Since the news, Tomlinson has said she wants to return to her stand-up passion.
  • FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted: Also in March, in a double blow to the FBI franchise, CBS canned FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted after their fourth and sixth seasons respectively.
  • Poppa’s House: Following its debut season, CBS opted not to renew Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.’s Poppa’s House for a second season.
  • The Summit: After one season, CBS axed its new reality competition series, The Summit, which had a tough time living up to other hit series like Survivor and The Amazing Race.
  • S.W.A.T: Fans of Shemar Moore’s police drama got déjà vu when S.W.A.T. was canceled again on March 6 after CBS reversed its May 2023 cancelation and saved the series for two more seasons. Despite Moore’s hopes that S.W.A.T. could find another home on a new network or streaming service, the series remains canceled as of writing this post.

  • Extraordinary: After 2 seasons, Disney+ canceled the Máiréad Tyers and Sofia Oxenham comedy in January despite a major cliffhanger that set up a Season 3.
  • Shardlake: Disney+ also canceled the four-part historical mystery series starring Arthur Hughes, Sean Bean and Anthony Boyle ahead of a second season.
  • How to Die Alone: In a shocking move, Hulu opted not to renew Natasha Rothwell’s How to Die Alone, part of Disney’s Onyx Collective, for a Season 2. In a statement to Variety, Rothwell said she was “heartbroken” and “baffled,” but wasn’t giving up hope that the series could find a new home.

  • Bookie: On February 18, Variety exclusively reported that the comedy series from Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay was canceled at Max after two seasons.

  • The Sex Lives of College Girls: After three seasons (and one Reneé Rapp departure) Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble’s Sex Lives of College Girls got the boot from Max in January. While creators and fans were hopeful the comedy could find a new home, but alas! It didn’t.

  • The Recruit: In another shocker, Netflix pulled the plug on The Recruit, which starred Noah Centineo as a CIA lawyer, on March 5. The show’s star Colton Dunn initally revealed that the series wasn’t being renewed for Season 3, and per Centineo, it was canned because “Netflix, they have a certain mandate that they need to fill… it just didn’t really fit what it was that they needed.”
  • Territory: Despite its 87% Rotten Tomatoes score, Territory, a popular Australian Western series, was also canned by Netflix after one season.
