Is Tom Cruise considering starting a new family at 62? Discussing his estrangement from daughter Suri and his relationship with Ana de Armas, who left Ben Affleck as she desires children.

Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise have been growing closer in recent weeks, as per the Daily Mail, and they were observed arriving in London as a pair just days before Ana’s 37th birthday on Wednesday.

The Top Gun star, 62, looked giddy as he piloted a helicopter into the UK capital with the brunette actress by his side. 

Their relationship first made headlines on Valentine’s Day when they were seen enjoying a dinner date together – and since then, they have been frequently captured in photos side by side.

But their unlikely romance could soon be hit with a major discussion if Armas’ relationship with her former beau Ben Affleck is anything to go by.

The 52-year-old Batman star and the James Bond actress struck up a romance after crossing paths on the set of the thriller Deep Water back in 2019, where they portrayed a married couple.

But in January 2021, news broke that the couple had called it quits, with a source telling Page Six that Armas dumped the father-of-three because ‘he would not commit to having more kids’.

‘She is in her 30s. It was a deal-breaker,’ added the source. The Blonde actress does not have children, while Affleck has three with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Yet if Armas is looking to start a family, she might not find what she’s after with 62-year-old father-of-three Cruise, who is known for his complicated relationship with his estranged daughter Suri, whom he shares with ex wife Katie Holmes.

Mission Impossible star Cruise has all but been exiled from his youngest child’s life for many years – a bitter rift that reportedly stems in large part from Katie and Suri’s decision to cut ties with his controversial Scientology faith.

The wedge that was initially driven between father and child at the time of his 2012 divorce has since become a rock-solid wall – one that 19-year-old Suri has no plans to ever break down, DailyMail.com previously revealed.

Sources close to the teen said in April 2024 that ‘Tom does not exist to her’. ‘Suri will not have any contact with her father, despite being 18, and even if he called, she would not answer,’ one source told DailyMail.com.

‘He does not exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter does not want to rely on him for anything. She feels that she has one parent and that is her mother.’ 

Suri was just six years old when her parents’ marriage fell apart, but she very quickly found herself thrown into the centre of the controversy surrounding their split – and the fevered fascination with the role that Tom’s devotion to Scientology had played in it.

Questions over whether she would continue to follow her father’s faith were quickly answered: Katie was awarded sole custody of their daughter and made it glaringly apparent that she had no plans to allow Suri to be caught up in the world of Scientology.

The Mission Impossible star was given frequent visitation rights, but the last photo of Tom out and about with Suri was a trip to Disneyland that same year.

Initially, the couple reached a custody agreement that stated Suri’s mother would care for her most of the time, however Tom would plan to see her regularly.

Despite this, the Hollywood titan was reported not to have seen his daughter for more than 100 days that same year, between a holiday they took in August and Thanksgiving in November.

After In Touch magazine reported that Tom had ‘abandoned’ his daughter, he sued the publication for libel in a $50million lawsuit. 

The case was settled, but terms of the settlement were not revealed, other than reports saying that each side would bear its own legal costs.

As the case played out in court, Cruise acknowledged he had gone around three months without seeing Suri, but added that it was due to factors out of his control.

Instead, he explained he had been working to a tight and intense filming schedule on his action movie All You Need Is Kill in London, which left little room for free time of any kind.

‘Unfortunately in this situation it was impossible,’ he told the court, according to People.

He added that, far from abandoning his daughter, he called her every day – although conceded it was not the same as seeing his young daughter in person and that speaking to a child on the phone can be difficult.

He said: ‘You have to work at it. I’ve gotten very good at it. I tell wonderful stories.’

At the time of the split, sources close to Katie had reported that she and her ex were keen on co-parenting Suri, but in recent years Tom has not been seen in public with his daughter.

And as the Top Gun actor remains a powerful figure in the Church of Scientology, former followers of the faith have suggested it has restricted Tom from seeing Suri.

In 2019, Samantha Domingo, who stopped following Scientology in 2004, claimed Tom was ‘not allowed’ to have a relationship with his daughter because she is not a Scientologist.

The author, who has penned a book about her time in the church, told US Weekly that, due to the Church’s belief in reincarnation, they will not view Suri as Tom’s daughter. Instead, she claimed they saw Suri as ‘a spiritual being in his daughter’s body.’

However, a spokesman for the Church of Scientology dismissed the claims as ‘fiction.’

It is believed that Cruise hasn’t seen his youngest since 2013, with reports claiming he missed her graduation at the end of 2024.

However, according to reports, Tom will pay Suri’s college tuition costs, per his ultra-secret divorce agreement with his actress ex.

In addition, according to their divorce documents, Tom agreed to pay Katie $400,000 a year until Suri turned 18 years old, paying all of Suri’s expenses, including ‘medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs.’

In contrast to his turbulent relationship with Suri, Tom has a close bond with his children Connor and Isabella, whom he adopted during his marriage to ex-wife Nicole Kidman in the 1990s.

It has previously been reported that, although the former couple were awarded joint custody of the children in their divorce settlement in 2001, the two eventually chose to live with their father.

They continued to be raised in the controversial Church of Scientology, in which Nicole had no part after her split from the Mission Impossible star.

The duo’s close relationship with Tom, led to an alleged rift with their mother and they have not been seen in public with the Moulin Rouge star since 2007.

It is a claim that Connor and Bella deny, while Nicole has previously spoken of her ‘unconditional’ love for the pair, in light of their ‘choices to be Scientologists.’

Back in 2014, Connor said: ‘I don’t care what people say. I know that me and mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything.’

However, when Connor married his Italian wife Silvia Zanchi in a Scientology ceremony in 2019, his mother was notably absent from the occasion.

It was reported at the time that Tom had prohibited his son from inviting Nicole to the occasion because of her status as a ‘suppressive person’.

‘First, Tom would never even consider inviting Nicole to Connor’s wedding because she’s considered a ‘suppressive person’ by the church — and, second, he doesn’t want her there,’ a source told Radar.

And when Nicole was awarded a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute, her eldest children did not attend.

While Bella liked an Instagram post from her mother about the gong, Connor did not publicly acknowledge his mother’s accolade.

Cruise and Armas seemingly confirmed their rumoured love affair is real as they flew into London together this week days before her 37th birthday.

In exclusive photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Hollywood icon Cruise, who has been linked to Armas since Valentine’s Day this year, looked giddy as he piloted a helicopter into the UK capital with the brunette actress by his side.

Armas – who was last known to be dating Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Cuba’s president – flashed a smile and her toned legs in a pair of mini shorts as she clutched her pet dog Elvis. A pal helped walk another pooch – Salsa – on a lead.

Armas donned a pair of shades and sports sneakers, appearing to go make-up free for the off-duty outing.

Meanwhile Top Gun star Cruise flaunted his action-man credentials as he landed the chopper and showed off a buff frame in a tight tee and jeans.

Cruise has been getting serious with Armas in recent weeks, the Daily Mail has learned, with one of his A-list exes even granting approval for the unlikely romance.

It can also be revealed that Cruise will be taking the starlet to the 78th Cannes Film Festival in a fortnight. His new movie Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is slated for a star-studded premiere on May 14 at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.

It is not yet clear if Armas will walk the red carpet with Cruise.

As for that A-list approval, it is understood Spanish actress Penelope Cruz – who dated the actor from 2001 to 2004 – is ‘happy’ that her ex-boyfriend has found new love.

Cruz, 51, and Armas have been friends ever since they co-starred in the 2019 movie WASP Network.

‘Ana has said that Penelope is happy for her, she approves,’ an insider told the Daily Mail. ‘They know each other from the movie and also they have friends in common in Madrid from when Ana lived there for a while.’

‘Tom makes Ana feel safe and that is very important to her,’ the insider added. ‘She was flipped out by the fans and stalkers when living in Venice Beach [Los Angeles] so she moved to a remote part of Vermont.’

In 2022, Armas dropped over $7 million for a sprawling six-bed home in the Green Mountain State.

‘She loves being away from the crazy,’ the source explained. ‘She has been traveling with Tom to busy cities like London, but he always makes her feel safe because he is thoughtful and he has a ton of security. He never puts her at risk, she is completely taken care of when she is in his company.’

Friends believe the relationship could last, with our insider pointing to the fact that Armas does ‘not like to party’, preferring quiet nights at home like her decades-older boyfriend. 

Though another source stressed that the pair are ‘taking it day by day’ and that Armas ‘does not give her heart away easy.’

‘Ana has a thing for older men and Tom fits the bill of her type. The proof is in the pudding. Being affectionate with someone is not something that Ana would do for a role,’ the second source added.

In November last year, Armas was linked to the stepson of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, with the pair stepping out for a loved-up stroll in Madrid the following month. 

Despite receiving massive backlash over the relationship, the actress, who fled communist Cuba aged 18, did not shy away from engaging in some PDA with him. 

However, the relationship appears to have ended as swiftly as it began – with Cruise soon emerging on the scene.

In February, the pair were first spotted enjoying a dinner together – again, in London – on Valentine’s Day.

At the time a source claimed to the Daily Mail that they were not romantically involved. Indeed, the insider insisted that the evening out had been strictly business related.

‘Everything with Tom and Ana is innocent. They are hanging out to talk about future movies that they could do together,’ the source said.
