8 Months Pregnant Woman Risks Baby’s Life to Save Toddler Hanging Out of 2nd-Story Window

A pregnant woman left her house for a walk with her dog and saw a baby hanging out of a neighbor’s window. Worried for the child, she tried her best to alert his mother, but nothing worked.

God sent the right person at the right time as a heavily-pregnant Kyrie Jones left her house for a walk with her furry friend. She had never thought another person’s life would suddenly depend on her that day.

It was a regular day for Jones, who left her house on May 8, 2023, looking forward to walking with her dog in the neighborhood. Suddenly, something unusual caught her attention.

In an interview with KCCI, the Des Moines, Iowa resident recalled what she saw. While walking with her dog, the second-story window of a house in the neighborhood caught her attention. She recounted:

“I noticed the little boy was bending over the edge of the window, and he was throwing things out the window.”

Worried for the child’s safety after finding him in a scary situation, Jones rushed towards the entrance despite being 33 weeks pregnant. Without thinking about herself or her unborn baby, she rang the doorbell and knocked on the door, but no one answered.

After realizing that no one would hear her cry for help, Jones hurried back towards the window and quickly called the police for help. What she saw next horrified her.

“The baby was holding on the ledge, hanging,” she recalled. All she wanted at the moment was to save the baby from falling, but the situation escalated quickly.

Trying her best to alert the 2-year-old’s mother, Jones shouted for help standing under the window. She hoped the boy’s mom would hear her voice and rescue him, but that never happened. Instead, the toddler lost his grip and fell.

Luckily, Jones caught the boy despite being heavily pregnant. She recalled not feeling anything when the boy collided with her baby bump after falling out of the window. “I think the adrenaline kicked in,” she said.

The little boy’s diaper fell off due to the impact of the collision, but Jones quickly wrapped him up in her coat. A few minutes later, the police pulled over outside the house and realized Jones had saved the baby from hitting the ground.

When Jones woke up that day, she had no idea she would be hailed a hero for saving a toddler’s life. Feeling emotional, she said things would have been worse if she didn’t leave her house at the right time.

The authorities revealed that social services are looking into the case. As the investigation continues, it is not yet confirmed if the mother will be legally held accountable.
