Tom Brady is a 'two-faced hypocrite', says Skip Bayless in blistering new attack over Shedeur Sanders

Skip Bayless has called out Tom Brady, branding him a ‘two-faced hypocrite’ and warning that his denial of involvement in Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft snub will catch up to him. The 73-year-old pundit, known for his loyalty to Deion Sanders, made these remarks on his FanDuel podcast.

Bayless reiterated his accusation that the Las Vegas Raiders’ minority owner played a role in steering the team’s front office away from selecting Coach Prime’s son during the recent draft. Shedeur Sanders, a promising football talent once viewed as a first-round pick, ended up being drafted by the Browns at the 144th spot.

Reports have surfaced post-draft suggesting that Shedeur’s performance in interviews and perceived arrogance may have contributed to his slide down the draft board, providing some context to his unexpected placement.

To Bayless, though, the Raiders seemed like a good fit for Shedeur, who already has a business relationship Brady: One of his first NIL deals was with the NFL legend’s TB12 health and apparel brand.

Furthermore, Brady has mentored Shedeur going back to the young quarterback’s high school days in the Dallas area, making the seven-time Super Bowl winner the perfect person to evaluate Shedeur for the Raiders. Not only did the team have five third- and fourth-round picks to take Shedeur, but the Raiders also have a capable starter in Geno Smith, who could serve as a mentor to the young quarterback.

Brady recently denied having any role in the Raiders’ draft plans, which Bayless finds so unbelievable that he’s beginning to question the retired quarterback’s past statements on the Deflategate scandal.

‘Tom, your nose is going to grow,’ Bayless said. ‘I defended you all through Deflategate. I said that scoundrel [former Patriots coach Bill] Belichick was involved if any footballs were underinflated, but not you Tom. Now, I got to admit, you’re making me wonder.’

‘Deflategate’ refers to the accusation that the Patriots improperly deflated the footballs used in the 2014 AFC championship game to help Brady’s grip. Brady was ultimately suspended four games in 2016, while the team was fined $1 million and docked a first- and fourth-round draft pick.

However, academics have insisted that the NFL failed to prove its case against Brady, who may have actually been exonerated by the data. As MIT mechanical engineering professor and self-professed Philadelphia Eagles fan Dr. John L. Leonard wrote for Sports Illustrated in 2016: ‘… there was no illegal deflation of the Patriots’ footballs at the 2014 AFC Championship Game.’

Brady, a former sixth-round pick, has since messaged Shedeur, telling the NFL rookie that his ‘story’s going to be similar.’

‘[Brady] was a late-round draft pick, but we’re here now, so none of that stuff matters,’ Shedeur told reporters at Browns rookie minicamp last week.

To Bayless, Brady’s knowledge of the position and his history with Shedeur made him an obvious person for Spytek to consult prior to the draft. So, when Brady told Jake and Logan Paul on a recent podcast that he never had any such discussions, the explanation simply didn’t make sense.

‘You might have seen the video I posted last, I believe it was Thursday night, Tom Brady on Jake Paul’s podcast blasted me for saying he obviously told Raiders GM John Spytek not to draft Shedeur,’ Bayless told his audience. ‘That’s my opinion, that’s my take and I know I’m right so I fired back at Tom Brady pointing out that Spytek is his former teammate at Michigan had said before the draft that the Raiders would be fools not to ask Tom Brady – now Raiders owner – about quarterbacks they were considering in the draft.’

And Bayless agreed with Spytek: ‘Yeah, they’d be absolute fools not to ask Tom Brady about quarterbacks. I mean Brady’s the obvious G.O.A.T. How many times have I said that on the airwaves over the last 10 year?’

In disputing Brady’s denials, Bayless also poked fun at the quarterback’s infamous non-fumble in the 2001 ‘Tuck Rule’ game that allowed the Patriots to advance to the AFC Championship over Al Davis’ Raiders.

‘So, Tom Brady wants us to believe his good friend Spytek – who also was an executive with the Bucs when Tom won the Super Bowl down in Tampa – that that GM of the Raiders wouldn’t ask him as a Raiders owner one thing about Shedeur?’ Bayless asked.

‘Yeah right Tom,’ he continued, before referencing Davis, the late father of current Raiders owner, Mark. ‘And you didn’t fumble on that tuck rule play and maybe cost Al Davis a Super Bowl.’

More than anything, Bayless explained, he wants Brady to admit to having a hand in Shedeur’s NFL Draft tumble.

‘Come on Tom just own it,’ Bayless said. ‘If you don’t believe in Shedeur as an NFL quarterback for whatever reason just own that.’

The Raiders’ draft class was highlighted by first-round pick and former Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty, but the team did take a quarterback in the sixth round in North Dakota State’s Cam Miller.

Bayless did make one interesting revelation during his podcast rant. When discussing the pain the Sanders family went through during Shedeur’s downfall, Bayless said he was told by a source that Deion actually cried.

‘A source close to Deion tells me that source has now seen Deion cry only twice: first time was after

Deion’s suicide attempt in 1997, the second was after his son fell all the way to 144th in the draft.

The elder Sanders, who still coaches at Colorado, has admitted to attempting suicide while playing baseball for the Cincinnati Reds in 1997. Deion drove off a reported 30-foot cliff, but didn’t suffer any life-threatening injuries.

This time, Bayless claimed, Deion cried because he knew his son was ‘the best quarterback in this draft.’
