A 6-year-old California boy died after being left inside a vehicle Saturday during record-breaking heat in Paso Robles, authorities confirmed.
Authorities were informed of the tragic incident when the child passed away just before 6 p.m. on Saturday. Reports from Fox 26 indicate that detectives suspect the father of the boy, 27-year-old Briant Reyes-Estrada, parked his car at the Paso Robles Inn and then brought the child to Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton. Unfortunately, the child was declared deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
The temperature reached 99 degrees Fahrenheit in Paso Robles that day.
Police sad the defendant may have been parked at the Paso Robles Inn for numerous hours while leaving his son inside the vehicle.
Hotel employees told KSBY that Reyes-Estrada had worked at the Paso Robles Inn that day.
Reyes-Estrada has been taken into custody on allegations of first-degree murder and causing intentional harm or injury to a child that could result in severe bodily harm, as per accounts from local media.
