Ryan Reynolds Teases Meghan Markle Over Her ‘As Ever’ Jam During Blake Lively Legal Dispute

Fans criticized Reynolds for his appearance and jokes on the podcast, labeling it a “blatant PR stunt” amid his wife, Blake Lively’s, legal tussle with Justin Baldoni.

Former associates recently accused Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of being the “most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet,” adding to the turmoil surrounding the couple.

Reynolds and O’Brien recently teamed up for an appearance on the latter’s podcast, where they took a playful jab at Meghan and her “As Ever” brand.

The actor known for “Deadpool Vs Wolverine” took a jab at the former “Suits” actress, referring to her as the “middleman for jars of jam,” without addressing his wife or their legal dispute with Baldoni.

In their interview, Reynolds initially discussed his father, Jimmy, with O’Brien. The actor said that his father had been a police officer, then became a “food broker,” joking that he thought that meant he was working for the CIA, before his father explained that he was a “middleman for jars of jam.”

“What? He works for Meghan Markle,” a laughing O’Brien remarked, before adding in a sinister voice: “Tiny jams. Harvestable jams. Made from the oils of Montecito.”

Reynolds then explained that if his dad weren’t dead, he’d say he is Meghan, before quickly adding, “Well, adjacent.”

Conan added: “Many people have likened the two.”

Many fans seemingly failed to see the joke in Reynolds’ comments as some of them slammed his appearance on O’Brien’s show as a “blatant PR stunt,” per the Daily Mail.

A fan wrote, “Tbh I don’t even care about his business behind the scenes with the lawsuit and whatnot… the problem is that Ryan is not even remotely funny. This is the only time I’ve ever questioned Conan’s judgement.”

Another fan penned, “Feels like he’s just reciting jokes he came up with weeks ago and not actually having a real conversation.”

“Not exactly the most subtle of manipulated PR moves, Ryan Reynolds. I would love to see the full list of topics that Conan was asked not to mention in this interview,” a curious fan added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Reynolds weighed in on his rise to fame and regrets, as they notably avoided any mention of the legal standoff surrounding his wife and her “It Ends With Us” costar Justin Baldoni.

The “6 Underground” actor praised O’Brien for never “punching down” on people during his comedic sets, adding that he rarely makes fun of people and enjoys being the butt of the joke.

“Like I’ve done it, I did it once in my life and I deeply, deeply regretted it,” Reynolds admitted, per the Daily Mail. “It was 22 years ago, and it was such a lesson I’ll never forget it.”

“It was a little bit like when just the comedian or the guy with the microphone starts picking on someone, and you’re just like, they don’t have a microphone as well. It’s not fair, you know,” he explained. “It left a mark that I’ll never ever [forget].”

Reynolds’ quip comes after Vanity Fair reported in an article that several sources with links to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex labelled them as the “most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet.”

The news outlet noted that Meghan could be “really, really awful” when things did not go her way.

Multiple sources who worked with her since she and Harry quit their royal role also claimed she could be “warm and effusive” towards employees before turning “cold and withholding toward the person she perceived to be responsible” when something went wrong.

One source shared that “things went poorly, often due to Meghan and Harry’s own demands.” However, the controversies surrounding the couple haven’t affected their flame as an insider declared that “their love is real” and they are still “hot for each other.”
