AN EXPLOSION at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs has left one dead as cops probe the possible act of terrorism.
Shocking pictures from the scene show debris and broken glass strewn over the street in front of the building.
The American Reproductive Services was left in ruin after an explosion near East Tachevah Drive at around 11am this morning.
The blast also blew out the windows of nearby windows and was reportedly heard as far away as Desert Hot Springs.
Smoke was reportedly visible across Palm Springs, with residents complaining of a strange odor following the blast.
Horrified residents posted about the explosion on social media, with some even claiming they had spotted “body parts” at the scene.
An investigation has been initiated by law enforcement officials to determine the cause of the explosive impact. No potential leads, including the possibility of terrorism, have been disregarded as the cops delve into the matter.
According to a statement by William Hutchinson, a spokesperson for the Palm Springs Police Department, the explosion was triggered by a bomb located either inside a vehicle or in close proximity to it at the site.
A Palm Springs Police Department official added: “We’ve got a vehicle that appears to have exploded.
“It appears that we have a deceased person.
“Everything’s in question whether this is an act of terrorism, or what it is.”
A spokesperson for California’s Governor Gavin Newsom said: “Newsom has been briefed on the explosion at a health facility in Palm Springs.
“The state is coordinating with local and federal authorities to support the response.”
