Decomposed body found in Huron River sparking investigation

The Erie County Sheriff says the body was found about 1000 feet south of the State Route 2 bridge.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio is currently conducting an investigation following the discovery of a severely decomposed body in the Huron River on Friday morning.

The sheriff’s office says a kayaker found the body around 10 a.m. in a marshy area about 1000 feet south of the State Route 2 bridge.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called to assist with forensic evidence collection.  

The body is currently unidentified.

The Erie County Coroner ordered an autopsy which will be performed by the Lucas County Coroner.
