4 inmates escape minimum security correctional facility in southeast Columbus

Officers were called around 8:50 p.m. about four inmates on the run from Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility, off Alum Creek Drive.

Four inmates at a minimum security facility in Franklin County reportedly escaped Thursday evening by smashing through a window, according to authorities in Columbus, Ohio.

The Columbus Division of Police received a call around 8:50 p.m. notifying them of the escape of the four inmates from the Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility located off Alum Creek Drive.

A detective from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office revealed to 10TV that the inmates broke a window to make their escape. Currently, arrest warrants have been issued by the sheriff’s office for the four fleeing inmates.

The facility, which serves as a residential prison diversion program for adult male offenders, is operated by its own appointed board and the Franklin County court system. It is also accredited by the American Correctional Association.

No information on the identities of the inmates or their charges has been released.

The incident remains under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the facility’s internal administrative investigation, said Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility Executive Director Domonique Paige.
