Dakota Johnson Looks ‘So Much’ Like Her Mom, Melanie, as She Shows off Blond Cut after Years of Dark Hair

Hollywood actress Dakota Johnson, 33, is the daughter of American actress Melanie Griffith and actor Don Johnson. She is well known for starring in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy alongside co-star Jamie Dornan.

Most recently, Dakota and iconic actor Sean Penn star opposite each other in the new drama movie “Daddio.” The film centers around a woman with a troubled past who becomes a successful computer programmer and a cab driver who lends a listening ear and advice during their ride.

As Dakota and Penn’s characters develop an open dialogue, they open up to each other about revelations and details about their lives. In a promotional post for the movie, the production company, TeaTime Pictures, shared two stills of Dakota and Penn from the film.

The first picture shows Dakota sitting at the back of the taxi, looking into the distance. She had blonde hair tied into a ponytail and had curtain bangs framing either side of her face.

Upon seeing the photo of Dakota, many complimented the way she looked and commented on the striking resemblance she shares with Griffith. While doting mom, Griffith replied to TeaTime’s post with a series of black heart emojis, showing support for her daughter; an Instagram user expressed:

“She looks so much like her mom, Melanie!”

While some talked about how much Dakota and her mom look alike, others said they did not recognize her. Another person commented:

“Absolutely beautiful she looks like an entirely different person!!”

The reactions to Dakota’s blonde hair stem from the fact that over the past few years, the “Cha Cha Real Smooth” star’s hair has mostly been worn in darker colors. In 2017, she was seen wearing red hair while filming a horror film after production wrapped on the last two films of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise.

In 2021, she was seen rocking her usual brunette locks with ombre highlights. At the time, the star was attending a Deadline Contenders Film event.

Dakota’s locks have long been celebrated in the entertainment industry. Fashion media outlets have even covered hair styling tip articles to help people achieve Dakota’s usually dark wavy hair with bangs. According to her hairstylist, Mark Townsend, when it comes to how he styles the star’s hair, Townsend wants Dakota’s hair to be:

“touchable and never overdone – just young and fresh. We never want her hair to look like newscaster hair…we’re not afraid of a little flyaway here and there. If there’s a breeze, I want the hair to move with it!”

Dakota may usually wear her hair in the dark color her fans have come to expect from her, but she has shown that she switches it up from time to time.
