A mother allegedly opened fire on her child’s father during a child custody exchange in Louisiana over the weekend.
According to KLPC reports, the father involved in the incident was Brett Daigle, a 48-year-old man who had traveled from Colorado for a meeting that turned violent in broad daylight.
The mother, identified as Randolyn Allen, a 43-year-old from Lake Charles, has been charged with second-degree murder following the shooting that took place during a custody exchange on Saturday. This information was disclosed in a press release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on South Perkins Ferry Road at around 2:30 p.m. responded to reports of gunfire.
During the initial investigation, investigators found that Allen started firing at the home. Daigle was shot several times and died at the scene.
Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses at the scene, including Allen.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office stated in a release, “Upon arrival, deputies found Brett Daigle, a 48-year-old from Canyon City, CO, deceased at the scene. Initial investigations revealed that [Allen] had fired a gun at the residence during the child custody exchange. Daigle was hit multiple times and was pronounced dead at the site.”
Allen was subsequently booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Bond is currently pending.
