Akron police identify suspect wanted for fatal weekend stabbing

Bikash Tamang was wanted for felonious assault after injuring two in the May 3 shooting.

In Akron, Ohio, Bikash Tamang surrendered on Saturday, May 24, to the police regarding the shooting incident that occurred on May 3 outside the Royal Place party venue.

The 36-year-old was being sought for two charges of felonious assault, discharging a firearm at or into a residence, and mishandling firearms which resulted in injuries to two individuals.

Tamang is currently being held in Summit County Jail.

CASE DETAILS

The shooting happened at around 12:53 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, at a party venue located at 134 East Tallmadge Avenue. 

According to the authorities, security personnel had requested a man to leave the establishment. When the police arrived and initiated a conversation with the individual, a vehicle exited the parking area and an occupant started shooting at a group gathered in front of the venue.

A 19-year-old male was found at the scene with a gunshot wound. Officers applied a tourniquet before he was taken to a local hospital. 

A second victim later showed up at another area hospital with injuries believed to be related to the same incident. Multiple rifle rounds were recovered at the scene.
