Mark Consuelos saw Kelly Ripa in rare form this weekend.
On Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos revealed that he surprised Ripa with a trip to Italy where she experienced her first Campobasso Wolves game. Ripa, who is a silent investor in the Italian football club with Consuelos, jokingly referred to herself as a “very silent partner.”
“And in Italy, I become even more silent because I don’t speak Italian,” she added. “So I am the most silent version of myself that I’ve ever been.”
Consuelos quipped, “I kind of liked it. It was really nice.”
Ripa replied, “Your fantasy version of me. Somebody who has no idea what’s going on.”
During their quick journey, Consuelos shared how he took charge as the Italian speaker in the group, having to order for Ripa and their English-speaking companions when dining out in Italy. He humorously mentioned the challenge of making decisions swiftly, especially when faced with a waiter listing off an extensive menu.
Ripa playfully accused Consuelos of being a terrible translator, emphasizing that he is the sole Italian speaker among them. As a result, they heavily rely on him to convey information, but according to Ripa, he often withholds details from them as a form of entertainment.
Ripa recalled one instance where she spotted what she wanted “immediately” upon entering the restaurant and pointed to it, telling Consuelos, “I just want what that man has.”
“I already know how this is going to go, so I pointed to what I wanted,” she continued. “And so Mark took that information, and then ordered me something entirely different.”
Consuelos assured Ripa that she “got what [she] wanted,” though Ripa teased, “After I started crying at the table.”
While Consuelos noted that they “ate a lot,” Ripa said she actually ended up losing weight.
“It is really true. You can eat all the pasta you want in Italy and not gain a pound,” Ripa said. “And I wound up actually losing weight in Italy because we were so busy, and because Mark kept ordering me the wrong thing.”
