A former schoolteacher from Washington, D.C., has been taken into custody by the FBI for allegedly requesting child pornography from a minor, according to the Justice Department on Monday.
The accused, Devonne Keith Brown, aged 56, worked as a health teacher at the IDEA Public Charter School. He is alleged to have solicited child sexual abuse materials from a young girl in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
“Individuals who target minors to request the creation of CSAM engage in abhorrent behavior and will be brought to justice for their awful actions,” stated Steven Jensen, the assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office. “The FBI is dedicated to safeguarding our children and eradicating this terrible problem from our communities.”

“This individual is no longer employed by the school,” the school said. “The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and supporting their ongoing investigation. Based on the information currently available to us, there is no indication that any IDEA student was directly involved.”
