TWO bloody handprints were found on the truck of the dad who is on the run after he allegedly killed his three daughters.
The Decker sisters who were allegedly murdered by their dad, Travis Decker, likely died of asphyxiation.
Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5, were found dead at a campground in Washington state on Monday after their mom reported them missing on Friday.
Cops are still searching for Decker, 32, who is accused of killing his daughters during a planned custody visit on Friday.
Decker’s white 2017 GMC Sierra truck, in which he was reportedly residing at the time of the heinous crime, was discovered near the location where the girls’ bodies were found.
His car was found abandoned with two bloody handprints, police records show.
It’s unclear who left the handprints.
Personal items like car seats, blankets, food, and a wallet were left on the center console of the truck.
Cops said the campsite showed signs of being recently used as a tent was set up with a cooler.
Decker’s cell phone activity showed he went to the same campground a day before the kidnapping, police records said.
The girls’ bodies were found at around 5 pm on Monday near the Rock Island Campground in Wenatchee, which is about three hours east of Seattle.
Police found the girls’ wrists zip-tied and plastic bags over their heads, according to a police court affidavit obtained by NCWLIFE Channel.
They were wearing the same clothes they had on when they left their mom’s home.
Decker picked his daughters up from their mom and his ex-wife, Whitney Decker, at around 5 pm on Friday for a scheduled three-hour visit.
According to police records, during interviews with law enforcement, Whitney mentioned that her former husband was acting “quieter than usual” during their interaction, which was uncharacteristic of him.
She also told cops that he had been considering getting rid of his dog due to housing and financial struggles.
Decker, a former military member, and Whitney had been divorced since 2022 and had a parenting plan in place for the three young girls.
Before the girls’ bodies were found, Whitney told local media that there had never been any problems with visitation in the past.
Before the discovery of the girls’ bodies, Whitney informed Seattle CBS affiliate KIRO on Monday that “Travis has really struggled since he left the military, and his mental health can be hard sometimes.”
“I think this is an effect of that, and I don’t personally think that he’s dangerous.”
She added, “I think that he is impulsive and he loves his children very much.”
Decker is a veteran who cops say is mentally unstable. He had been homeless and living out of his truck and hotels.
When he didn’t return the girls at the scheduled time on Friday, Whitney called his cell phone and it went straight to voicemail.
She called the Wenatchee Police Department at around 9:45 pm that night and reported her daughters missing.
Cops are still unable to contact Decker.
